Mrs Fiona Nyako Ahmed Ahimie, FCS, will assume office as the 14th President/Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, becoming the FIRST WOMAN to hold this prestigious position in the Institute’s history.
This event will not only mark the official commencement of her tenure, but it will also serve as a celebration of her contributions to the Nigerian Capital Market and a testament to her vision for the future growth in the financial sector.
Beyond its symbolic importance, the Institute uses the Investiture Ceremony as a strategic platform to engage private-sector executives, government officials, market regulators, practitioners, and other critical stakeholders in the Nigerian economy on programmes and initiatives that could catalyse the growth and development of our nation.
Fiona is a passionate and astute professional with over 15 years of working experience in the Financial Services industry. She is currently the Managing Director of First Securities Brokers Limited, a subsidiary of First Holdco Plc. Fiona began her investment banking career with Lead Capital, Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers and joined FBNQuest Capital (formerly FBN Capital) in 2014 as the Head of Sales Trading and a member of the Sales Team for International/Local Institutional Clients.
She left FBN Capital to African Alliance, a Pan-African Investment Banking Group, as the Managing Director of African Alliance Securities Nigeria, in May 2015, with responsibility for the Nigerian Market Strategy, growing trading market share, existing client base and international/local deal flow.
She rejoined FBNQuest Securities to head the Equities Brokerage function in October 2016, with the responsibilities of identifying and engaging prospective clients to grow the clientele base, locally and in international markets, managing and growing deal flow while ensuring optimal allocation of portfolio funds.
Fiona has an MBA from the Lagos Business School and a Diploma from IESE Business School, Spain. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria (FCS), an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ACA), a Member of the Institute of Directors, and an Honorary Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. Fiona served on the board of Purple Money Microfinance Bank and Purple Real Estate Income Plc. as an Independent Non-Executive Director, Statutory Audit Committee Member of the National Association of Securities Dealers of Nigeria (NASD).
She is currently a Non-Executive Director on the board of NGX Real Estate Limited, Statutory Audit Committee Member of the Central Securities Clearing System Plc., and the First Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria. She is a regular guest lecturer for the full-time MBA class of the Lagos Business School and a Member of the Curriculum Management and Learning Committee of Lagos Business School.
She is a dedicated mentor to many professionals, and she has been a mentor for the WIMBIZ Women on Boards Program for the last four years.
